Battleground: Crossbows & Catapults

Okay, so this isn't a PVP post. It's not about any breaking news for Wrath of the Lich King. This will be more of a nostalgia post for me (and I know at least one other person, but hopefully more). For years I have had extremely fond memories of Crossbows & Catapults, the game you'd play on a hard floor and shoot discs at your opponents tower in attempt to knock it down. I've long since gotten rid of my pieces from this epic game, but it comes up in memories every once and awhile. (I know I had the Trojan horse, and the main set (I think), not sure what else I had.) I've seen it on E-bay or even used from Amazon for about $100 (like I'm gonna pay that).

But today, while walking through Toys R Us, browsing for upcoming birthdays for my children, I saw it: Battleground: Crossbows & Catapults. Even more geared directly to me, it's now the Knights vs. the Orcs. (Alliance vs. Horde?) I didn't pick it up since my kids won't be old enough for a few years, but I'm glad that somebody shared my dream of bringing back old toys like this one. Crossbows & Catapults? Check. Transformers? Check. Now if we can just get somebody to bring back the space guys that had magnets on their feet that would activate their vehicles (Space Something?) and the cars that would flip up their doors and fly (Not even a clue on the name of that one), I could relive my whole childhood with my kids. Oh, and of course Legos are on that list... but they're not going anywhere... ever.

Anyone else remember Crossbows & Catapults? And can anyone else remember the names of the two other toys I'm think of? (Gotta think 80's for this one.)

Ah, crossbows and catapults. That is some good memories. Doubling up the rubber bands on the crossbows, and watching those discs fly with devastating force into the opponents castle. Good times.

I think the space one with the magnets you are thinking of is "StarCom". I vaguely remember cars with wings, but it isn't bringing back any name.

If they are still selling Crossbows and Catapults, I should pick up a set, my entire floor is concrete, I could host an epic battle.

Yeah, I remember the starcom stuff. Those were cool.

I'm still annoyed that they don't have stompers anymore.

Yeah, I remembered StarCom on the way home from work last night. And I guess it was only one vehicle that flew. Remember M.A.S.K.? http://theflashsite.net/mask/

And... you always did have the best floors for Crossbows and Catapults. :)

I got this for my son for xmas. I want to rip it open and play it now. I loved the old one as a kid.

lol, what a trip down memory lane. Stompers, I haven't heard of those in 20 years. I actually had some of the Starcom stuff and gave it to my kids along with my tub of legos.

No idea what the cars with the wings are.

Anyone remember Battle Beasts? They had the little thing on thier chest you rubbed to get Fire, Water or Earth?

I was 5 years old when I received crossbows & catapults for my birthday, I found it probably 5 - 6 years again at a flea market and bought it then. Me & a friend played this game for hours making up our own rules and basically creating a new game. We used to double band them too. The same friend bought me the new one for christmas and shipped it to me (wrapping was ripped) I'm dying to play it now.

Mask, where illusion IS the ultimate weapon! There was a camero that the doors popped up and it became a jet plane. Also the motorcycle turned into a helicopter. THe bad guys had a helicopter that turned into a jet. I also remember a semi trailer that converted into ???. The base was a gas station. the sign flipped open into twin guns.

loved that show as a kid! had the flying car too!!
