Epic Mounts for Friends

I've been questing with my wife for much of her journey through Azeroth, Outlands, and Azeroth. I was the one to push for ground epic mounts as soon as we hit 60 so that we could go fast. (It was one of my alts that leveled with her through 70, but from 70-80 it has been my main, Leiandra.) Now that she hit 77, the difference in waiting with her slow mount and my fast mount was just unbearable. Now, I'm not one to have a lot of money. I'd much rather focus on other things besides saving my in-game money. So, 5,000g is still kind of a lot of money to me.

But it was slowing down our progress, and I found I had to wait a lot. So, I gave her the money for the fast mount. Heck, I still have other 70's that don't even have epic flying. But, I think it was the right decision. So, the question here is twofold: (1) How many toons do you have with epic flying skill? (2) Have you ever bought epic flying skill for somebody else?

I've gotten epic flight on 3 of my toons. And the thought did cross my mind to donate to a friend for epic flight but quickly decided I was being silly. Because who knows how long he will play.

I commend you for buying her epic for her. I trained and purchased my Epic flyer when I hit 77 and that was expencive enough just for one toon. Im still trying to make back the gold that I spent on that.

I figured that with a little focus on actually making money, it probably wouldn't be too hard to hit 5000 again at some point. Plus, it's not like my level 70 priest and level 71 Shaman are going to be flying any time soon anyway. Heck, even if I decided to power level them, they'd probably hit 5k in just quest rewards and random Boe drops. AND... if I just sold the ore from my miner instead of prospecting it, I'd have it made.

But Mr. V.... dang you had to spend a lot of money on Epic Flying skill AND cold weather flying. Bummer.

I have two epic fliers atm and will probably pick up a third on my druid. I will probably end up having to pay for much of the balance of my fiance's epic flying once we hit 77 in Northrend as well. Good thing is that I have around 20k gold, so it will actually be possible. Could possibly be around 30k gold by the time she hits 77.

I ended TBC with 7 70s: 4 with Epic Flying, 3 without.
I have loaned people cash to get them their epic flying skill in our guild but never the entire 5k.

I may eventually spring for the epic flying on 2 of the last 3. The last toon is a tailor / enchanter and without a gatehring skill, epic flying seems like a silly investment.

I'm retired and all I do is wow. My wife works but we do wow together when she's home. It really sucks when one person is slower than the other. I have an 80 hunter and 77 warrior with epic flying. She has a mage that just hit 77 and I gave her gold to get her epic and cold weather flying. I have a 61 druid that I will be bringing up next so I have to save like crazy to get his epic flying.

Heck I have twenty alts and not one of them has *regular* flying yet.

I have 3 toons with epic flying and working to save for my Death Knight epic flying. Once you get epic, the slow mount is reeaaally slow.

I have 2 epic flyers and 2 non-epic flyers. I've got enough gold to purchase about 4 more epic flyers, but make my alts all "earn" their epics. But it isn't that hard with all the dailies out there that can be done plus leveling.

2 epic (Nether Ray and Nether Drake), 3 non-epic. Since all 4 of my 80s have at least 2 full zones they never touched before they hit the level cap (rest bonus FTW), I'm hoping that the money-instead-of-XP that they get for doing all of those remaining quests will be enough to pay for at least 2 more training fees.

As for the 70, it'll be a while before she hits 77 and can make full use of flying again, since I'm splitting my play time at least 8 ways (in addition to the 70 and 4 80s I also have a few sub-70 alts). By that time, the accumulated funds from doing 4 or 5 sets of dailies will hopefully be enough to buy the fifth training.

My biggest challenge with this strategy is to avoid the temptation to buy the Wyrmrest mount for my third and/or fourth epic flyer.
